Are you interested in preserving a part of transportation history?
If you are, then this is the place for you! With a collection of over two dozen vehicles, this all-volunteer organization is dedicated to the preservation, restoration and operation of transit vehicles of various eras. In addition we collect transit related information so that Ohio's public transit history is preserved in our small but growing collection of transit archives as well as in our bus collection.
Our collection originally focused upon the Cleveland Transit System, suburban Cleveland bus systems, and the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority. Over the years, we've expanded our collection to include transit systems from all over Ohio. We currently have examples of coaches from many different Ohio cities in addition to those from the Cleveland area and it's continually growing.
The buses pictured above are just a small part of our collection. First is our ex Greyhound Silversides. This bus, a 1947 GM PD-3751, was acquired from Continental bus lines of Michigan. Next is our ex-Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) # 407. This bus is a 1971 Flxible model 111DD-D51 serial # 55629. Coach # 407 served Toledo for many years and was serving its final years as an operator training coach for TARTA before being obtained by our Museum. Finally, our ex-Community Traction Company coach 108. This bus, a 1966 GM SDM4502 serial # 126 is an example of a suburban style coach. Coach 108 has been repainted back into it's original colors.
We invite you to join us in helping to preserve Ohio's transportation history. An associate membership is also available for $15.00, which excludes voting rights. See our membership page for details. You don't have to be a mechanic or even a "bus fan" to join with us to help preserve Ohio's public transportation history. All you need is the desire to see the past preserved for the future so won't you please help us preserve these important pieces of history?
We are also in search of a single location for our Museum collection. Please consider donating to help us acquire a permant location. All donations are fully tax deductible and are very much needed to ensure our Museum's survival. Please consider making a donation to help us find a home so we can continue to preserve our transportation history before it's lost forever.
